Mount Horeb Frolic

Well, the first weekend in June means the Mount Horeb Frolic! You ask what that is...well it is a reason to have beer tents, bands, fireworks amd carnival rides. Last year we thought the boys were too young to risk their lives of the traveling carnival rides....this year...what the heck, give them a try. They survived and actually had a load of fun!. (althought they were a lot more expensive than our favorite place in Green Bay, Bay Beach!)
I could not get a centered picture....either only the dragon's head......
or the rear......
Peter's favorite ride was the cars...he thought this was a race car but I think it looks more like Fred in the Cars movie. "Mario Andretti knows my name, you got to let me in!"
Jamison was thrilled that he drove the firetruck and he evn had passengers! And then we all enjoyed some play time on the equipment. Who says you go down a slide.

Memorial Weekend

We love long weekends, who doesnt really. It was full of fun fun fun! First we got to ride our new horse "Bridgestone". He seems to eat a lot but amazingly there is not poop! The best kind of horse if you ask me.
We played with Torrie a lot! She loves sticks, a little too much in Peter's mind. And we drove the coop, I am surprised the the boys still fit in there. Grandpa Don got a new pontoon boat and we took it out in its maiden voyage. We did not get to crack a bottle of wine on the bow...too bad.Grandpa let us drive....
and we did a great job and now we know what way is port and starboard, bow and stern....where is the aft? Sadly, it came with some bad gas and the carborator is a bit junky...it is going back to the dealer to get repaired. :(
This was the weekend of toys because Gpa Don also scored a Scrambler...or a 4-wheeler at a garage sale. A super deal!
"Jamison...I saw dad do this, I think this is where you start it and give it gas!"
The boys got fishing lessons from Uncle Gary...and we listened to everything he said...he is a fishing expert! along with Gpa Don. They caught loads of fish over the weekend.
Lesson #1, always keep your tip up in the sky. Lesson #2 no hooks on that pole until you are 5.The boys were very busy catching sharks....I never knew there were sharks in the lake...I might have to think twice when we go swimming.Like father, like son.
Gpa also built a tree stand/fort. The boys cant wait to climb it on their own and i cant wait to see who is going to get the first broken arm.
After a long weekend we had to take a long relax in the woods...Jamison is going to be my thinker...and dreamer!

Fashion and Fish

That boys sure knows what he likes and wears it well. Not many can carry off such bold patterns and bright colors. I have said that he is my fashion forward boy! The room is coming along nicely...we finished the tree, and now Peter just has to decide what animals live in and around the tree. And the fish are done.....Jamison's problem is that he wants all of the animals....he just cant limit himself.

Gardening, crash and a painting update

The boys and I stopped at the local flower mart to get some flowers and the boys were great helpers. They promised to help water the flower and were very excited to watch them grow.
Gloves are very important to the boys...esp Peter. Now we wear them all of the time. Although Peter is a good driver....he has a claim to submit to the insurance company. "The tree came out of nowhere!" he states to the police officer but the officer did not buy it. There were no casulties or injuries so we are very thankful. And a lesson was learned....you can not drive up a tree. We made some progress on the wall art, and the boys were excited to help. We took off the shirts to make sure that we did not get paint on them and that was a very good idea. The plan is to get a large snake crawling up that tree and a few spotted macaws in the leaves.

The frogs are coming along nicely.
and Jamison is SO excited the shark is done. it almost looks like the shark is going to give Jamison a big kiss! and the fish are still in progress....stay tuned

Fun week with the Swedes

Rika, one of Don and Jill's exchange students from years past, and her family came for a visit. Peter was fascinated with the fact that her husband was another Peter! I think the girls, Vera and Mikken, had a good time exploring the north woods. Miken loved catching worms and Vera love to balance! The boys thought the girls were interesting...but sometimes a little frustrating because they did not know a lot of English. Everyonce in a while you would hear Peter or Jamison say "hey girls! why are you not listening?"
Yes, Jamison loved the worms also! That is a big ole juicy one in his hands! After a few days in Mount Horeb, Rika and family went up to the cabin to visit with Don and Jill, we joined. We enjoyed boat rides...Ahoy! maties. Land! Straight ahead!and hikes in the woods. This is Peter giving Wini a walk! He did a really good job or I should say that Wini was real cooperative! This is the same hill from a couple posts ago....now without snow. Still just as fun sliding down!
Peter really likes orange. I guess we should be able to find him in the woods!
I have my own Mount Horeb Trolls.
Jamison really likes climbing trees. Pat put him in this one that is actually 5ft off the ground and bounced up and down.

The summer is going to be a lot of fun!. The boys have already spent hours "fishing" with Jamison only falling in twice. He will always need to wear that life jacket. Dont you hate it when nobody tells you that your butt is sticking out of your pants!
Two loving boys on Mother's day

The whole crew!

Say "cheese" or "ost" (swedish for cheese)

Wall Art....first step

As noted in an earlier post, we are painting animals on the boy's walls, rainforest for Peter and ocean animals for Jamison. Since I have zero skills in the art department, I have recruited Keiko to help. The deal is, she draws, I paint.

Here are the boys "helping" Keiko.

Two of the 4 frogs are almost done, right by Peter's head. The green frog was suppose to have yellow stripes, not orange. Peter decided that he liked it better orange...so it is a new species....
Dendrobates peteriii.Jamison is so excited about his family of orca's I am not sure he will get any sleep! I am thinking this is going to be a "work in progress" for a while. The boys keep thinking of more animals that they would like on the wall. So far there is the makings of a tree, a "great big white" shark and a bunch of brightly colored fish.
