Eagles and friends

The weekend the boys were waiting for! A weekend with the Moore Boys! We headed up to Wabasha for an action packed weekend for the boys (and a relaxing weekend for the grownups!) The boys get along together and have loads of fun the parents can actually relax, chat and have a great weekend! Since Wabasha is "eagle country" and Jamison loves all birds and birds of prey especially we headed to the National Eagle Center. We say many eagles on the river and some rescue birds inside. Including this golden eagle named Donald. Hey boys....say "fish!" After the Eagle Center we headed to Whitewater State Park for a picnic lunch and a hike. I spent many days in this park surveying amphibians and reptiles a long long time ago! On our way there we saw many birds, Sandhill cranes, turkeys and swans! Hey boys! wait up for us! The boys were so excited to get out and explore! They thought these bridges across the trout stream were "totally awesome!" What I thought was awesome was that we were able to see more than 30 trout in the trout stream! Our hike lead us to "Inspiration Point", a really cool rock outcrop with great views. Peter has developed a fear of heights and claimed there was no way he was going to go out there! His body started to shake and decided this was as far as he was going to go! He did awesome on the way up! talking to himself.. "just look up, just look up" We were told by the ranger that some nesting peregrin falcons have returned, one was first sighted today. And guess what, we say them BOTH! Lets home they have another successful nesting year. The hike led us to Chimney Rock. Peter was fascinated by the rocks and said that he was going to come back one day to study.
He specifically said that he was going to study THIS rock, so he asked to take a picture of it so he can find is when he is older. (you could tell he wanted to collect it but knew that he can not pick things from state parks). He also asked if he could get his picture taken in front of this rock formation, but only he could be in this picture. I think he might be really passionate about rocks! Back at the Moore house, the boys relaxed with some video games, a movie and a sleep over. I think they were all tired, once we said good night we never heard another word from the room! Now that was a sign of a good time!
And the most exciting park of the weekend (in a mothers eye) is the below video!
Yes, we have some 2 wheel bike riders! It took a little convincing (and a small bribe of 3$) but well worth the investment. I am hoping we can now take the training wheels off of their bikes at home and continue! Jamison also rode the bike, but was distracted buy a game of baseball and didnt not want to try more. WooHoo!
Thanks Megan, Ryan Caleb and Issac for a great weekend!!!!!

Happy St Patricks Day

What a way to start off this holiday with bowl of Lucky Charms. Maybe the sugar load will wake up my two little leprechans. Jamison's class set up Tom the leprechan traps all around their classroom...Jamison thought he better be prepared at home also. He made a sign for Tom letting him know that he can not come here and mess up our house (more than what it already is). We are hoping is trap at school catches the lil'guy!Pat gets his special meal on his saint's day....Guinness and Steak Pie and Guinness! The boys were not all that impressed with the bacon cooked steak filled pie. Pat was a happy camper though. The boys did enjoy the leprechan shakes though! I think we did catch Tom the Leprechan....rats, that is Jamison dressed up. I was really hoping to make my three wishes. Happy St Patricks Day!
Oh...Jamison's class did not catch Tom, with the 18 traps he still managed to get away and trash their classroom. That leprechan was not fooled by our hidden webcam, he put a tissue over the lense and they did not catch any images.

Spring! the sun!

The snow has melted and the sun is FINALLY out! You knw what that means? yard work! Bike riding and hanging the laundry outside to dry! We spent most of the day cleaning up the yard and enjoying the sun and the warm. Did I mention the sun! It was out! Saturday we took a day trip up to Green Bay to surprise Gma Van on her birthday. Dinner, cake and a little Wii action made for a fun rainy day outing! Happy Birthday GMA. With the warmer weather...short sleeve shirts are coming out! and that means tatoos! and lots of them. Jamison cooked up one of his recipes from his cook book. Instead of "pigs in a blanket" he made "monkey in a blanket"
The boys have found a new interest in wrestling......i better get use to it!

party crashers- world travelers

So our friend Gracey was having a "Around the world" themed school carnival so we met up with them and had a great time. The boys got to jump around the Taj Mahal bounce house, train with the best Jamaican bobsled team, dive for tootsie-pops in the great barrier reef and decorate their own Brazilian masquarade mask. For one ticket the boys were able to make their own passport and get stamps for every country they visited. The passports are awesome because the boys wanted to fill them up with flags from around the world! Jamison was focused on countries with a lot of read on their flag....switzerland and china. We HAD to head to Germany and Japan of course! watch out Heike and Keiko we are coming your way! Also on our itinerary was Iceland and Cuba...but I told the boys that we are not allow to go to Cuba yet..... how do you explain that to a 5yo? a little history lesson i guess. We also had to stop at Joanne Fabrics to get more jewels and feathers. The boys wanted to add more sparkly things to their mask. With this mask Jamison said that he was feeling real "Brazil-ish" Sorry buddy, you are not brazilian (you have way too pastey skin for that) .... German Irish Dutch Polish and a bunch of other stuff. Peter is ready to explore the world! and he said that I can come too! Yippee India Ireland Norway, Scotland...man, how do I pack?!
