NY- Niagara Falls

The Falls. Niagara Falls that is. The boys were pretty excited to see the huge waterfalls. We headed right to the Maid of the Mist boat tours and the boys were wondering why we needed the stylish raincoats. The quickly realized why. Jamison was very interested in the cormorants that were swimming at the bottom of the falls. He corrected the lady next to us who called them ducks. Back on shore we walked around the American side. We asked the boys if they wanted to go down there....their response..."no way". I guess we will do that another time. I felt a little out of place. There were loads of Indian tourist and Amish folks walking the grounds. Do other Americans go to NiagaraFalls?

I did learn one thing about 6yos and traveling. Once the see the Falls, they are ready for the next thing. So off to set up camp! Like last year, Peter wanted to set up the tent for Chimchar. The camp site was right on Lake Ontario and had a rocky beach. The boys could spend hours throwing rocks and then ended up swimming. Except for Jamison. Earlier in the week he crashed on his bike and the wound got really infected. So infected that he was at urgent care with a fever and needed meds to prevent the infection from going into his bone. He was a trooper, but sadly he was not able to go swimming just yet. The weather was nice and warm. So warm that it melted the marshmallows into one sugary mess. We were able to salvage enough for smores that night, but had to blow $3.50 on a new back at the camp store. Pat made the oowie goowey 4 marshmallow smore.Out of the name of science we tossed the rest of the bag in the fire. It was fascinating to watch!Camping means a couple video games with dad before bed. The next day we headed to Canada to explore that side. We hiked down to the "whirlpool", class 6 rapids. Peter was a little nervous, not sure why. But perked up when asked for a funny face picture. We were not as lucky with the weather that day, but we had our rain jackets and were prepared. The Canadian Falls were behind them, but if I remember correctly you can never really see them anyway from all the mist. We went behind the falls and I dont think the boys really understood where they were....but liked being close to it. Again, we have seen the falls, whats next!

Back through customs we saw "dogs at work. Work dogs Work!" The car infront of us had something the dog was very interested in. A nice officer drove the person's car away and escorted her to another building. hmmmm
