Since I really did not know what happens at "Trout Days" I told the boys that we just need to explore the town to see what is going on. Well, it just so happens that the only thing that happens during Trout Days is the city wide garage sales and a couple brat tents. I did not think it was a bust and neither did the boys. Each boy scored a couple new toys and books and convinced me to hit up a bake sale. I also un-earthed a set of harvest gold orange and green tupperware storage containers! Peter is quite the garage sale shopper! He has an eye for cool things!
In the afternoon the skies cleared up and we took a nature walk in the woods behind the house. This area, with a couple fallen trees, is the boys "train station" (the sound is not the best but they were driving the train to NewYork City and were on their way to find KT)

Sometimes when I ask the boys what we should do I say "maybe we should stand on our heads".....well, Peter really can!
And then we took out the hippity-hops. Jamison and Peter are still a little small to ride them properly but that does not stop us from bonking our brother and kicking them as far as we can!
Nice balls Peter!
I wonder what all is planned for "Swordfish Days"

I learned that when the neighbors (men mostly) hear a chainsaw start up...everyone comes to see what is going on! All chipped in to help...that was was fun to see.
5 of the six men in front of their "kill". I am sad to say that there was one casualty...a very nicely hidden squirrel nest with a couple babies was discovered a little too late. One squirrel for sure did not make it. Once discovered is was quickly moved to a safe location in hopes that momma and the surviving babies would live a happy life tormenting our dog.
The tree after. Now if anyone has suggestions as to how to accelerate the decomposition of a large tree stump, let us know!
Not only does Pat get to use his chainsaw, multiple trips with the tractor and wagon was needed to bring the tree to the street. Tractors and chainsaws...Pat is in heaven! I guess I was not surprised that the wood was almost walking off of our property! People driving by were picking it up almost faster than we were able to get it out there! I cant complain!

and of course...a picture of Jamison......saying cheese!
And of course the together shot! Not sure what the neighbors think of this.

boys.......back in the sand box!!

Back in Mt Horeb, Pat built himself a "tree house" in the workshop. I think he will move his computer and video games out there for a little alone time.
And with the refreshing warm weather here....we went to the zoo to see if more animals have come out to play! The carosel was also open for business!! Something that we have been waiting for!! Here the boys are on a zebra and white leopard!

And we couldnt leave with out a picture on the tortoise!
